“music expresses that which cannot be said

and on which it is impossible to be silent” - Victor Hugo

Music for well-being

As a UK licensed music therapist I use music to help people communicate and connect, giving shape to things that are hard to put into words

Music-play sessions for children

I facilitate child-led music sessions that foster a child’s innate curiosity and motivation. My approach helps connect children with the why of music more than the how. It allows children to explore their own musicality and voice, to communicate and express their inner world through music and sound-play.

Sessions can be individual or in small groups. A loose structure holds space for a lot of improvisation, playing, dancing, song-writing, conversations in sound and joyful interaction.

In this kind of space children can grow in confidence musically, personally and in relationship to others. They are encouraged to bring their whole selves, to explore and express aspects of themselves that are then welcomed and validated.

These sessions can be particularly helpful for:

  • Children who struggle with more traditional music teaching models

  • Anyone who would like to explore an approach to learning music that is more playful and fun

  • Children who have social anxiety or are struggling with relationships

  • Children struggling with transitions or difficult life-events

Improvisational music sessions for adults

Do you wish for greater freedom of expression in your life? Are there parts of you that feel stuck or unfulfilled?

I work one-to-one with adults, using music to help people connect with aspects of themselves that may be difficult to understand or connect with in other ways. I use vocal techniques to encourage body awareness and connection, improvisation, breath-work, movement and song-writing along with many other techniques.

You don’t need any musical skill or experience, and the focus is not on creating good or nice sounding music. It is about giving voice to parts of you that need to be heard, listening to and exploring those parts of us in a deeper, embodied way through music.

I draw on Internal Family Systems theory in this work, along with somatic body-focused approaches that aim to increase awareness and integration and lead to greater well-being.

These sessions can be particularly helpful if:

  • You are experiencing a transition or difficult circumstances in your life

  • You want to make changes but are unsure how to move forward

  • You want greater freedom of expression

  • You want to feel more connected and embodied

  • You want to explore your inner world in a more creative way

Sessions for children and adults with disabilities

I offer sessions for individuals regardless of ability or disability, tailoring my approach to meet the needs of the individual. I have worked extensively with people who communicate non-verbally, in particular those on the autism spectrum or individuals with profound physical disabilities.

Music and vocal play can offer an incredible opportunity for connection and self-expression especially in cases where verbal communication is difficult for whatever reason.
